Programs and Services
Community Family Life Services provides a web of interconnected services to help women returning home from a period of incarceration and to empower homeless and low-income families and individuals to change their lives over the long term.
We do this by providing a range of programs and services that help our clients address the immediate and long term factors resulting from, or contributing to, poverty and homelessness. Specifically, Community Family Life Services:
Provides stable housing
Through two residential programs, Trinity Arms and Milestone Place, CFLS provides individual adults and families with children a safe, secure, and supportive place to live while they work or receive the training and services they need to rebuild successful lives.
Cares for people with HIV/AIDS
CFLS provides case management and support services to help people with HIV/AIDS obtain the healthiest and best possible quality of life.
Provides Employment Counseling and Placement
CFLS provides employment counseling, job search assistance, resume assistance, and meaningful employment for displaced workers. Many of our programs rely on employment services to help participants get back on their feet. We also offer employment services to any DC resident who meets the requirements.
CFLS trains and matches adult mentors with families to empower and support them by sharing financial, educational, parental, and household management tips and ideas.
CFLS teaches parents, grandparents, and guardians concepts and techniques to make the challenges of raising children easier.
Meets emergency needs
CFLS helps people deal with unexpected needs by providing food and clothing. CFLS provides food baskets for Thanksgiving and runs Adopt-a-Family and Give-a-Gift programs during the winter holidays for clients in our programs.
CFLS delivers food to homebound seniors and makes connections to other necessary services.
